Spring Pastel Trend Project

So my first year of university is officially over I can not believe how fast it has gone and now I have a whole 4 months of Summer to enjoy. For one of my most recent projects I had to create a magazine layout and an article on a Spring Trend. I chose to do the pastel trend and I really enjoyed creating mood boards and doing a picnic photo shoot with my friends. Here a few photos of my project, I'm not sure if there even that good and if I will get a high grade for it yet but thought I would share them anyway :)

My main inspiration for the project was Madonnas book The English Roses I love the cute quaint style of the book and just think its really lovely in general. I also love the pastel cant coloured trend if only we had the nice warm weather to match.

Carnaby Street Shopping

A few weeks ago, me and my boyfriend Matt went to London for the day. Matt had an internship interview (which he got yaay) and it was located just of Oxford Street. Which meant I was more then happy got go with him and do some shopping as well. I wanted to stay away from the high street shops that I go to lots anyway and try some more different boutiques. Carnaby Street which is just of Liberty's on Oxford Street has loads of cute and quirky stores. It is great for vintage and independent designers.

I bought myself this slouchy sweater top which will be great for me when I'm just lounging around and just going for casual pub get togethers with some skinny jeans or leggings. I also bought myself this bottle opener that is made from an old vintage spoon. I love the old delicate detail on the spoon and plan on getting an old vintage glass from a charity shop to keep it in.

I had such a great day despite the fact it rained for most of it. We ended our day in London with a lush meal from The Markham Inn located in Chelsea Green and the food was absolutely gorgeous!

Revlon Lip Butter

I have heard a lot of hype about the Revlon Lip Butter and with Emma Stone being the face of them who I love I decided to buy some. I used to be a lip gloss addict and would save up for Lancome Juicy tubes, I do still use Rimmels Vinyl glosses but I now much prefer to wear lipstick. However I wanted a more day time softer and subtler lip stick and this is when the new lip butter balm comes in.

The Revlon's lip butters give a shiny texture and the buttery balm makes your lips softer and smoother. I purchased the Peach Parfait shade that Emma Stone wears it has lovely shimmer and glitter to it, but is still nice and light to wear during the day. I also got a darker purple tinted shade called Berry Smoothie. I usually go for the more purple brown/red shades so this suited my style. I would recommend these without a doubt, they are perfect for Summer when you want lighter more low key make-up.

Wish List

I am starting to fall in love with benefit make-up again. I used to always use their products but slowly stopped due to them being a little bit pricey and because I wanted to try some other brands. But I keep seeing their products pop up in magazines and on blogs so I now want to get my hands back on their products. I also do need a primer and a new foundation brush so these are definitely on my wish list.  I also I am IN LOVE with the embellished collared shirt from River Island and have decided I need it in my wardrobe. I also have put some Miu Miu earrings on my wish list because their just so sweet along with a Anya Hindmarch Girlie Stuff bag!

Nautical Nail Art

I love doing nail art despite the fact I'm not that great at it, but the more I do it the better I get so maybe by the end of the Summer I will be a pro? Who knows.

Whilst everyone else was watching the Football I chose to do a some nail art and decided to do a little anchor sailor design. I used Barry M Blueberry for a base coat and on the ring finger on both of my hands I painted an anchor. I used Andrea Fulerton stripe brush for the anchor, I started with a circle on top then a line straight down a curve at the end and I attempted to do little triangles on the end and then just did a line across the middle.

I only did the anchor on one nail on each hand because I think if I did it on every nail it would be a bit over powering and OTT. I painted the tips of my nails on all other fingers with Mavala Orange which I got free with an Elle magazine, however I wish I'd gone for a lighter coloured orange so it looks more Springy.

Zara Shoes

So, to celebrate finishing my first year of university I wanted to go out and treat myself in my new favourite shop Zara. I actually went to get a white shirt with a studded collar that i'm pretty sure Louise from Made In Chelsea was wearing in a recent episode. But sadly for me they didn't have it in stock. But I did stumble across these sandals. I think since there black and a peachy nude colour with a bit of sparkle mean these will be great for the evening as well as to dress up a day outfit.

I originally needed a new pair of heels but since I've been 18 for nearly a year now Im kinda over the whole heels and dress clubbing outfit and much prefer a more laid back shirt or t-shirt and shorts look. I always wore little heels anyway as i'm fussy about my feet being comfortable. Plus I tend to go out to town with mostly guys and they just don't have the sympathy or time for me to be tottering about and moaning about my feet in a massive pair of heels. So I may even try wearing these out to town instead of heels....maybe.

Florida

Here are a few photos taken from my holiday to Florida, I took lots of photos of candy coloured things in case I wanted to use them for a uni project and others are just the usual cheesy holiday snaps. On the holiday I discovered a love for maxi dresses, heart shaped sunglasses, Hello Kitty false nails, a Miu Miu hoody and dolphins.

Megan from Mad Men. Better then Betty?

I have finally caught up to Mad Men season 5. If you have not watched all episodes look away now as there may be spoilers. So basically Don has moved on from Betty and has got his seriously cool yet cute at the same time wife Megan. Megan represents the mood of the sixties perfectly with her short dresses flicked eye liner and how she refuses to be walked over by Don. Betty all of a sudden seems so dated and old fashioned, strict and stoney and in her mid life crisis and comfort eating. Betty is the middle aged ice queen in comparison to stylish smiling Megan. My Betty fashion crush may very well be over...

Here are a few screen shots of my favourite looks so far from Megan.

Met Gala 2012 Dresses

I'm taking a quick break between essay writing to look through all the met gala outfits from last night and here are a few of my favourites.

Cameron Diaz in Stella McCartney, Carey Mulligan in Prada, Marion Cotillard in Lanvin, Gwyneth Paltrow in Prada, Emma Stone is Lanvin, Lana Del Rey in Joseph Altuzarra

I seem to prefer all the metallic and glitter styles but I do love Emma Stones red dress. I love Lana Del Rays cape giving it a gothic fairy tale look. I am undecided on Marion Cotillard's  dress I think I like it...?

Made In Chelsea Style

As you may or may not know I am hooked on Tv show Made in Chelsea and I especially love the clothes that they all wear. I know the love triangle story lines are unrealistic at times and the posh voices can be annoying but I kind of love it all if i'm honest. But at the end of the day it is the fashion that I love most and I am now aiming to hunt down and find similar style clothes to them if only my Dad had created Quality Street sweets then it would be so much easier. My favourites by far are Millie with her smart jackets matched with boho jewellery and skirts. Caggie for her camel coats multi coloured nails and silver rings and Louise with her dark lipsticks and cute collared shirts.
