Barry M Gelly Hi Shine Nail Paint

I am always admiring girls with professionally done shellac nails, the glossy shine finish always caught my attention. So I was thrilled when I saw that Barry M had released a nail polish collection with a similar finish. In the photo below I am wearing the colour Lychee and they are 4 days old in the picture, proving that they are very chip resistance. However I had to do 2 to 3 coats to get achieve a strong colour consistency. I am already excited to try out more colours from their Gelly Hi Shine collection.

Hello Kitty Nail Art

I love Hello Kitty and actually bought some really cute Hello Kitty nail transfer from holiday which I haven't used yet. But I was feeling brave so thought i'd attempt to do my own. Attempt is the key word in this post....

I did a french manicure on each nail using Super Finish French White. On my ring finger I made it a little thinker to be the base for my Hello Kitty. I then used a tooth pick dipping it in to Barry M's Fuchsia  and draw a little bow. Next I used my Andrea Fullerton black stripe and sparkle to draw two eyes and some whiskers. Finally I dipped a tooth pick in to Barry M's Lemon Ice cream colour to do a little nose.

Nautical Nail Art

I love doing nail art despite the fact I'm not that great at it, but the more I do it the better I get so maybe by the end of the Summer I will be a pro? Who knows.

Whilst everyone else was watching the Football I chose to do a some nail art and decided to do a little anchor sailor design. I used Barry M Blueberry for a base coat and on the ring finger on both of my hands I painted an anchor. I used Andrea Fulerton stripe brush for the anchor, I started with a circle on top then a line straight down a curve at the end and I attempted to do little triangles on the end and then just did a line across the middle.

I only did the anchor on one nail on each hand because I think if I did it on every nail it would be a bit over powering and OTT. I painted the tips of my nails on all other fingers with Mavala Orange which I got free with an Elle magazine, however I wish I'd gone for a lighter coloured orange so it looks more Springy.

Watermellon Nail Art

Getting into the Summer spirit and partly due to boredom I decided to experiment with some nail art designs. Pleasantly Surprised at how these watermelon style ones turned out plus they are very easy to do. For the bright pink base I used Nails Inc polish in shade 'Shoreditch' and then in the style of a French Manicure I painted the white tips of my nails green in Barry Ms green polish. I then did black dots to represent the seeds on a watermelon using my Andrea Fullerton nail art stripe and sparkle brush. Then all I had to do was put on a No7 top coat so it won't chip easily. So simple to do, now just hoping I can find or think up more designs that are as easy as this one.

Andrea Fullerton Nail Boutique Dot & Flick Nail Art

Another Andrea Fullerton purchase, I love the metallic Silver colour as it's modern and would be great for the evening. However the colour is less versatile so you can't be as experimental and have as much fun with the designs as you would with the Black version. But I did really like the effect and did a lightning bolt design with Barry M nail polish in Navy as the base.

Andrea Fullerton Nail Boutique Stripe and Sparkle

I love nail art. I am proud of my neat long nails so refuse to cover them up in the patterned nail art stickers. So I have had to be persistence with my not so steady hand and do it myself even though I would rather have it done at a Wah Nail Bar. I am currently on the look out for a nail art pen but for now I am using the thin brushes by Andrea Fullerton which I got from my local Superdrug store. The polish is surprisingly long lasting and the brush reasonably effective. I have yet to use the glitter but I did recently attempt to recreate the tuxedo nails that Zooey Deschanel had for the Golden Globes. I used Barry M nail polish for my base coat the Andrea Fullerton brush in black for the detailing. Still a little bit messy but once I get the hang of it I hope to have a neater look.
